About Lisa S. Krivickas, MD
Lisa S. Krivickas, MD was a cherished physician in the ALS Clinic at Massachusetts General Hospital. She was Associate Chief of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at MGH and Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School. She also served as Director of EMG at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and was a physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Dr. Krivickas received a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from Cornell University and went on to earn a medical degree from Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Krivickas was a highly regarded scholar, well-loved clinician, caring mentor and friend who dedicated her career to research and caring for patients with neuromuscular diseases. She published numerous award-winning papers. Her research included the study of muscle physiology in neuromuscular disorders and aging, investigation of new electrophysiologic techniques to assess neuromuscular disorders, and the development of new therapies for ALS. To recognize her extraordinary gifts as a mentor, the HMS Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department presented her with a mentoring award named in her honor.
Lisa died of ALS on September 22, 2009. She is remembered for her integrity, high academic standards, and unassuming nature. She is an inspiration to all who had the honor of knowing her.
