The 25th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre passed quietly in Beijing, where residents showed a preference for averting their eyes from the past and focusing instead on the present. Meanwhile in Hong Kong, around 180-thousand people chose to commemorate the massacre by holding a candlelight vigil, along with around 1,000 people in Taiwan.
