At long last, War Without Reason is finally here! This is the longest work I have composed and it’s not even close. Life, PT. II is longer on YouTube but it has a repeat. If this had a repeat, it would be over twelve minutes long, which is crazy for a single piece.
This really isn’t a single piece, though, as it comes in ten very distinct parts. It was incredibly fun to play around with the piano to create more melodic parts versus more droning.
The first nine phases were all relatively quick to put together, but Phase X was the only reason it took so long to release. I really wanted to make sure that it would be a suitably grand finale to an already stunning piece.
I have taken many liberties with this song compared to some of my other covers. Since the source relies so heavily on percussion, I interpreted it as a very heavy and low bass (and snuck in a couple of fun references).
