A railroad crossing compilation video of crossings that have a Western Railroad Supply Company Mechanical Bell that works at them. This bell is a pre-Federal Signal and Pre-Western Cullen Hayes Mechanical Bell and in fact some of them sound like FS and WCH Mechanical Bells while some sound close to a US&S Teardrop Bell. In 1932 is when the company changed its name to Western Railroad Supply Company and then in to Division Of Western Industries in 1953. This would be the time frame WRRS Mechanical Bells were made before the company was bought out by Federal Signal and started making FS Bells and then the company eventually became WCH and started making WCH Bells. You can go to WCH website for full history. This bell was once a common crossing bell but is now uncommon to come across. A lot of railroads still have this bell on there lines. For my area on the West Coast the SPRR, WPRR, and ATSF were big users of this bell between the 1950s and 1980s on their crossings and on shortline railroads also. SPRR and WPRR used FS Bells also at the same time in the time frame of the 1970s and 1980s. a lot of excursion trains have this bell on there crossings but they are in the contents of a shortline railroad also.
