A 50-year-old man, a vegetable vendor, was allegedly beaten to death by a mob on suspicion of being a thief in Rajasthan's Alwar district on Monday. The man, identified as Chiranji Lal Saini, was thrashed by around 20-25 people, belonging to a particular community, and died while being treated at a hospital in Jaipur.
A preliminary probe revealed that Vikram Khan, Jumma Khan and others thrashed Chiranji Lal when he went to relieve himself in a field.
At a time when the victim was in the field, thieves after stealing a tractor were coming from the Sadar police station area and were being chased by police officials and the owner of the vehicle.
