Chattala Express
Chattala Express (train no. 801/802) is an intercity train of Bangladesh Railway which runs between Chittagong railway station of Chittagong and Kamalapur railway station of Dhaka.
History:
Chattala Express made its first inaugural run on November 1, 2010 as an express train. It was allocated train no. 67/68. Chattala Express offered an inter-city train-like fast service while keeping the fare low. Almost 10 years later, this train was converted to an intercity train on August 27, 2020.

Rolling Stock:
Chattala Express is usually hauled by a Class 2700 locomotive. Sometimes, Class 2600 or Class 2900 locomotives are used too. Previously, the train ran with green colored mail train coach with a load of 16/32. Later, that was decreased to 12/24. The train, upon its conversion to an inter-city train, currently runs with a load of 12/24. This train always has two rakes.
Passenger interest:
Chattala Express is considered as a fast train service with lower fare price.
Incidents and accidents:
(1). September 7, 2019: Chattala Express train avoided a fatal head-to-head collision with Mohanagar Express train near Imambari railway station, Brahmanbaria.
(2). November 14, 2019: The Chattala Express train was supposed to pass a rail crossing in Murapara, Comilla. Meanwhile, a loaded truck became stuck on that crossing. The loco-master stopped the train in time, avoiding a fatal collision with the truck.
(3). November 23, 2019: The locomotive of Chattala Express caught fire at Tongi Junction railway station, Gazipur. No fatalities occurred.
(4). December 14, 2019: The locomotive of Chattala Express caught fire at Lalmai railway station, Comilla. No major fatalities occurred.
