How Does the Bucket Strategy work within the TSP?

Because withdrawals come out of all funds proportionally, the account must be rebalanced after every withdrawal if all funds are in the TSP. For example, after an $8k withdrawal from a TSP invested equally in four funds, all funds will have been reduced by $2k. If the Fed wanted only to withdraw funds from the G fund, then they would rebalance the account by transferring $6k from the G fund into the other three accounts.
