Access to health care is largely a private affair especially at the point of accessing treatment for an ailment.
But for the deaf, a third party is often involved in the medical examination and the medication process unless one can find medics who understand basic sign language or who will allow them to communicate through writing.
Medical workers do not have sign language as part of their training but they often encounter people who are deaf.
Some medical workers have tried to adapt by learning basic sign language. In the last part of our series on My silent world, we explore the challenges medical personnel face when handling deaf patients and what government plans government has.
