This video shows basic information about how the drifting ice buoy is used in the Arctic Ocean, and the instruments attached to the buoy. In addition, there is an example how to locate a buoy by using a pinger.
Our video aims to share how the multi sensors are assembled on a wire of the buoy, how it is deployed and recovered, for the general public audience. The measurements and application were done by a scientific group during the UAK cruise project on the KV Svalbard, and the buoy
was provided by NERSC. The instruments used with this drifting ice buoy include GPS, CTD, Hydrophone and a pinger, which gives a wide variety of datasets. There is given a short explanation for these instruments, as well as what their data is typically used for.
