An inmate cradled his newborn baby for the first time in a Kentucky courtroom last Friday after a judge arranged for their meeting.
District Judge Amber Wolf made a special arrangement for James Roeder, a 24-year-old charged with burglary, to meet his 1-month old son in the Jefferson County courthouse, WDRB reported.
“I know you have a no-contact order between you and Ms. Roeder that I issued, and I’m not changing that,” Wolf said. “I’m making a temporary exception right in front of me on the record so that you can meet this baby. This is your son.”
In the vide, Roeder, dressed in an orange jail jumpsuit, cradles his son in near silence and gives him a kiss before weeping. He and his wife, Ashley Roeder, appeared to begin weeping as the judge distributed tissues throughout the courtroom.
