Once upon a time, Buddha sat with his students. One of his students inquired, "Lord, how can we control our rage?" Tell me a story, Buddha. You will learn to control your wrath by listening to this narrative. The tale goes as follows:
Once upon a time, in a village, there lived a squabbling lady. She used to become enraged about little matters and use nasty language in her rage. She'd feel terrible once her rage dissipated. Her entire family was disturbed because of her habit, and there was usually a squabble in her household. One day, a sage knocked to that woman's home, begging for weapons.
The woman told the monk about her predicament. Oh, smart one, I get extremely furious very soon. I couldn't keep my rage in check. Even if I had asked you to provide a method to help me manage my rage, the monk withdrew a little vial of medication from his backpack and handed it to her. Take this, he said. This is an angry medication. When you are upset, place four drops of the medication on your tongue and hold it there for 10 minutes. For 10 minutes, do not open your mouth. Otherwise, the medication will have no effect.
In just seven days, the woman began using the drug according to the monk's instructions and abandoned her tendency of being furious. When the monk returned to her door after seven days, she fell at his knees and cried, Oh, wise one, your medication has done wonders for me. I no longer get furious as a result of using your drug, and my family is also at peace. When the monk heard her comments, he grinned and replied, "Daughter, there was no medicine in that vial; it was only filled with water." You did not manage your fury with this prescription, but you did control your wrath by being silent.
After relating the anecdote, Buddha stated that the only way to regulate anger is to remain silent, because angry people spew nasty words, which produce debate, hence the only treatment for anger is silence. Conclusion: If we look at our life, we will see that there are many times when we become furious and lose our composer, and when someone becomes upset, his mind stops working and his mouth begins to speak in rage. The individual uses harsh language for which he must subsequently apologize. An angry person not only commits mental violence, but he can also do physical violence, which he may regret for the rest of his life.
Later, largely physical violence occurs in such moments of rage, although rage is only lost for a few seconds. We will avoid many disputes and quarrels if we remain mute in times of rage. As a result, anytime you become upset, remain cool, place a few drops of the medication known as quiet in your mouth, and seal your mouth for a few moments. You will be protected from numerous future problems.
This is a lesson from life. Thanks for watching, and keep smiling.
