Why did Anakin Skywalker lose his lightsaber skills after becoming Darth Vader? Well, there’s 3 big reasons why and the first is cuz of his crazy messed up body! With being burned to a crisp and his limbs severely damaged, Vader’s body movement was never the same after his fight with Obi Wan!
But what makes things even worse is that the shoulder pads on his suit stopped him from raising his arms higher than his shoulders! Which leads us into our second point and that is Vader having to change his fighting style. Before, Anakin's fighting style was aggressive, smooth, and acrobatic but after he was put into the suit, his style was more mechanical and used powerful lightsaber swings.
And the third reason as to why Vader wasn’t as good as he used to be is because of the lack of training and dueling. Now Vader would get into fights hunting down Jedi from time to time but his focus was now shifted to being a Sith Lord and ruling the galaxy.
