READ THIS: This video shows in detail the method I use most often to customize my knives with etching. It also shows another chemical often recommended called PCB Etchant. I've been successful with it one time (His is not that one time). The Gun Blue/Bleach method I have used many many times. I read about it and taught myself. It is also a lot SAFER than using stronger things like PCB etchant. I consider the GB/B method more of a "beginner safe" method since all you are really doing is a controlled, accelerated rust. Always use PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) like gloves and eye protection when doing ANY kind of knife modification, and do so at your own risk. Don't use your favorite knife the first time. Etching is permanent!!

Preparedmind101 answers a couple of my biggest FAQs I get, How I etch my knives and how I get my high polish on them. You want to make sure you have everything before attempting. If you polish with a orbital sander, you WILL lose the edge. You need either A) A Worksharp Knife and Tool Sharpener to put the edge back on, or B) A professional knife sharpener person who uses abrasive belts and paper wheels. Do not attempt unless you are ABSOLUTELY SURE and willing to accept the possibility of messing up your knife. This is a permanent process. But people ask constantly, so I am just showing you how I myself do it.
