Aaditya Thackeray on Wednesday had declared that he would contest the next Assembly election from Thane, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's bastion. "I would contest from Thane and win," said the son of Uddhav Thackeray, who had won the 2019 Assembly election from Worli in south Mumbai. CM Shinde, notably, represents the Kopri Pachpakhadi constituency in Thane city. Aaditya slammed the Maharashtra government saying that "Mughal rule" was prevailing in the state.
Eknath Shinde responded to Thackeray's jibe and said- In a democracy, anyone can pick the seat of his choice to contest. But it is the people that decide who wins. He wasn't even born when I was working as a shakha pramukh under the leadership of Balasaheb Thackeray and Anand Dighe.
