It just took 7 years for Rishi Sunak - from an MP to become the UK Prime Minister. He made history as the first PM of Indian origin and the youngest in 200 years of British history to take the top job. Rishi Sunak in his first address to the UK Parliament as MP in 2015 said, “My grandparents arrived in this country with very little. My parents, now a GP and pharmacist, grew up wanting to give their children a better future for their children. Today, I have the enormous privilege of standing here as MP. I owe a great debt to our country for what it has done for my family showing tolerance, providing opportunity and rewarding their hard work. A great man once remarked that some of us might not be here in 30- 40 years, before reminding his audience that the decisions made today shape the future of the next generation. I believe in a compassionate Britain that provides opportunity and values freedom. I hope I can play a small part in continuing to ensure that our great nation continues to hold on to those enduring values.”
