So I've been wanting to silver plate stuff for a long time, like over a year. You see I thought it would be a nice idea to give my girlfriend a silver plated ring. I remember trying out a silver nitrate solution but all it did was corrode the ring which is not ideal...

So seeing that i had already spent two days in hospital due to NO2 gas poisoning, after trying to make the nitric acid to dissolve the silver, I thought to my self "why not kick it up a notch" and make some cyanide.
Yeah so this time I at least took some security measures, and so far I can say that I have not felt any cyanide poisoning effects. Honestly this is the best method I've tried so far to silver plate, and I've tried it a lot, the first attempt was using a caustic solution inspired from this video:

But all I managed to do was corrode my silver not cover the copper in anything. But it could be that I'm just garbage :/
Then I tried an immersion solution of copper chloride, and this DID WORK, it takes a while to get a nice finish and you need to clean the copper well, however the coating is very thin and won't survive long, i got a ring to survive half a day with this coating.

Ive already said that silver nitrate doesn't work very well, and all it did was eat through my copper.
