Tips:
- Smooth motion on the steering wheel, brake at the white line across the track before “Trangualo” (Turn 2).
- You can stay on the left after Turn 3, provided you can take “Tamburello” (Turn4) flat-out. Else bring your ass to the right.
- Take “Villeneuve” (Turn 5) flat-out to carry the speed from the previous straight. Then gently lift before turning for Turn 6; the smaller direction changes you take, the faster you will be (in my lap I think I took a bit too much kerb, probably last 0.2 secs there…).
- Be aggressive at the Turn 7 hairpin, “Tosa.” Brake late and get the car to swerve around. You can use the kerb on the inside (like in my lap, or take a wider line). The exit is wide and you must aim to get on throttle ASAP. You can use the kerb on the exit but not beyond the Italian flag portion.
- Lift off at the 50m label before “Piratella” (Turn 8) and make sure you don’t get too far on the inside left kerb or outside on the right kerb (not beyond the Italian flag portion) so that you don’t lose any speed (you can power-brake through this corner, but you will lose more than just lifting off).
- Aggressively in for “Acque Minerale.” Flat-out on Turn 9 and then either lift and brake hard or power-brake for Turn 10. If you don’t go as far as you can on the exit (not past the Italian flag portion of the kerb), it means that you left time behind.
- There is a few ways you can take the chicane of “Variante Alta” (Turns 11-12). You can rise both kerbs aggressively or as I did in my lap, do the Turn 11 kerb more aggressively than the Turn 12 kerb less aggressively to ensure (i) you get back on throttle ASAP and (ii) you don’t go too wide on the exit of Turn 12 which will lose you a lot of time.
- Brake early for the entry to “Rivazza” (Turn 14); it’s downhill so the gravity works against you. Then flat-out on the exit (Turn 15), making sure the angle of the corner is wide so you can go flat-out all the way without going wide on the exit.
- Stay close to the right side of the track till the finish line.
- I miss the old “Variante Bassa.”
