In this video, I’ll be showing you the zoom capabilities of the Canon SX540 HS Superzoom camera. I’ll also be putting up a separate and more detailed review of the SX540, so stay tuned for that. The Canon SX 540’s biggest asset, both for photos and videos, is its phenomenal 50X optical zoom range. This zoom range is what really sets it apart from other entry-level zoom cameras and really helps you capture a lot of pictures and footage that you really couldn’t get with a smartphone camera or even an entry-level point and shoot camera, as you can see from these shots. The image stabilization also seems to work very well throughout the zoom range and keeps shots steady even when zoomed in all the way. I highly recommend turning off the digital zoom, as it tends to reduce your image quality at the higher end of the zoom range. The only issue I kept encountering was a slight jitter in the zoom motor when beginning to zoom out, after having zoomed in all the way, as you could see in that shot. This seems to be a glitch in the camera and several other reviews also seem to have noticed the same issue. Again, it's not a deal breaker in my opinion, but just something to pay attention to when you’re zoomed in all the way and are planning to zoom out.
So as you can see, the camera has tons of zoom, the image stabilization works exceptionally well and the video quality is pretty good, considering it only shoots in 1080p. And if you’re looking to buy the SX 540HS, I’ll leave a link right below this video. Thanks for watching and see you next time!
