Short, medium and long-term corruption trends for China and neighbouring North Asian Oceanian countries are presented in this video using scores published by Transparency International in their 2023 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) report.
The video reviews China’s performance in addressing corruption in the periods 2021-2023 and 2022-2023.
China’s CPI score recorded an overall moderate improvement in 2012-2023. While advances made in the country’s CPI score in 2012-2013 and 2015-2017 subsequently lost some ground temporarily, a further improvement was made in 2019-2021.
The rate of change in the country’s CPI score exceeded the rate of change in average North Asian, Asia/Pacific and global CPI scores in 2012-2023 and 2018-2023, the reverse outcome arose in 2022-2023.
China’s CPI score was less than average North Asian, Asia/Pacific and global CPI scores throughout 2012-2023 except in 2021-2022 when the country’s CPI score exceeded the respective average global CPI scores. #corruption #china #asiapacific
