I needed to test how the sound comes through on my current setup, and what better way than to do a Dead Space 2 playthrough for a little variety? This playthrough illustrates the foundational strategies that I laid out in my Dead Space 2 Hardcore guide, and as you an see here allows me to complete Zealot difficulty with no deaths and no DLC!
The 'interference' you can hear starting at around an hour in is actually the heavy rainfall outside...which was what I wanted to test. Not much I can do to mitigate it unfortunately.
I upgrade the Plasma Cutter damage and 2 HP upgrades as early as possible. This makes chapters 2 and 3 much easier, and I'd strongly recommend it.
The Ripper is awesome in DS2 and I prioritise the 2 duration upgrades first. It's great for close quarters and also for the Pack.
Once Black Necromorphs become more frequent, the Plasma Cutter is less effective. Due to this I respec all the nodes out of it early in chapter 8 and put them into the Javelin Gun. Without upgrades that weapon is unwieldy and too slow, but upgraded it is a world-destroying mofo that wrecks all Enhanced necros in only 2 spears, and the ammo is cheap.
Lastly the Contact Beam rounds out the weapon set, and it is easily the best weapon in the game IMO. Its secondary fire is unreal and the long-lasting stasis special upgrade is probably the best in the entire game. Its primary fire charges in only 0.4 seconds when fully upgraded too, and the weapon turns the last boss from a pain in the backside to an absolute formality.
I love this game and loved this playthrough. Thanks to NihilityJoey for the inspiration to play again (check out his YouTube below) and please like, comment and subscribe if you enjoyed this video!
