This touching movie is inspired by true events. I would recommend to watch this story. Blood Diamond tells the story of Solomon Vandy, a Mende fisherman, and Danny Archer, a former mercenary from Zimbabwe, against the backdrop of the civil war and devastation in Sierra Leone in the 1990s. Both men are African, but their backgrounds are as different as any can be. However, their fates are brought together in a shared mission to find a rare pink diamond that has the power to change both men's lives. Archer discovers Solomon, who was stolen from his family and sent to work in the diamond fields, has discovered and hidden the exceptional rough diamond while he is being held in prison for smuggling. The two men go across rebel territory with the help of Maddy Bowen, an American journalist whose idealistic outlook is tempered by a growing friendship with Archer. It's a journey that might save Solomon's family and will provide Archer with the second chance he had earlier given up hope of receiving.
