(13 Aug 2015) Police in Peru on Thursday incinerated nearly four tons (8,800 pounds) of drugs seized by authorities.
Among the drugs destroyed in Lima were cocaine, marijuana and opium.
This is the fourth drug incineration conducted so far this year, and brings the total quantity of drugs destroyed by authorities in 2015 to around 16 tons (35,300 pounds).
Deputy Interior Minister Mauro Medina oversaw Thursday's operation and said it served to show people in Peru how seized drugs were disposed of in the country.
