What is the earliest Christian teaching about God? Most people would answer, “The New Testament teaching.” While this is certainly true, most Christians today follow the teaching about God forced upon believes by Constantine and the false teachers with whom he worked during the council of Nicaea: The Trinity. But if the New Testament is the earliest source of information on Christian theology, why do Trinitarians need the teachings, councils and creeds formulated by people who lived hundreds of years after the New Testament was written? The only explanation that fits the evidence is they prefer their traditions over the Bible’s teaching, just like the Jews who rejected Jesus.—Mark 7:5-13.
Therefore, the Trinity should be rejected as a false doctrine about the biblical God and in its place must be put the word-for-word confessions of faith found in the New Testament, including John 17:3, 1 Corinthians 8:6, Philippians 2:6-11, Hebrews 1:1-3, and others. These texts, unlike the Trinity, actually represent the earliest Christian doctrine, and they are consistent with the Old Testament Jewish doctrine about God and the Messiah, all of which are in absolute conflict with the later teaching of the Trinity.
