I talk about the pros and cons of this plane and even do a few tests during its maiden flight.
Here is a summary of the pros and cons right here:
Pros:
- It is a beautifully colored UMX RC Plane
- Very responsive to inputs (almost to a fault)
- Nice large battery bay
- Excellent reinforcements are built-in
- I didn't pay for extra stuff I didn't want to pay for
Cons:
- It arrived with dents and dings on plane
- Difficult to see against a dark sky
- It was tough to find a good CG
- Limp wheel pant out of the box
- Packed in stinky foam
My take is what while it has some good qualities, it isn't an E-flite UMX Pitts. That is the best UMX they make and is a high bar to reach for any RC Plane. That is also the only 2S UMX prop plane I own as well. My UMX Habu and UMX MiG-15 aren't good planes to compare this one to since they are EDF Jets.
This is what Horizon Hobby has to say about it:
"The E-flite® UMX™ Sbach® 342 3D BNF Basic is a scale ultra micro RC airplane conveniently sized to fly at a park, large backyard or indoor space. Designed by world-class competition pilot and designer Mike McConville, it delivers incredible performance for precision aerobatics and extreme 3D. Thanks to its AS3X® stabilization system, it is truly amazing how much this UMX Sbach 342 3D model performs like an expertly-tuned Giant-Scale airplane. Whether you want to fly smooth scale maneuvers or wild 3D moves, AS3X technology gives you an amplified sense of authority and stability, even in moderately windy conditions."
