India has reported yet another record jump in daily coronavirus infections. On Sep 10, there were almost 96,000 new infections, taking the national total past 4.4 million. There were also over 1,170 deaths -- the highest single-day figure in over a month. Maharashtra is the worst-affected state. Infections are growing faster in India than anywhere else in the world, and there has been no sign of a peak yet. The country also has the second-largest caseload in the world, behind the US. However, its fatality rate remains low at about 1%, compared to 3% in the US and Brazil.
