Join me on this special segment of Watch Your Style as I tour the best spots in Los Angeles, California, during my birthday getaway, a true Hollywood Lifestyle experience!
This was actually my second trip to L.A. My first impression during my initial visit to Los Angeles years earlier, when I got out of the airport and jumped on the freeway was, “Is this it?” I guess that it was because of all the brainwashing Hollywood had made me endure all the years prior.
But the reality is that once you start getting to know the places, there are many good spots to see in the city. It's just that I'm a bit used to Miami (my hometown) where everything is more concentrated. In LA, the spots are a bit more spread out and you will never discover them unless you take the time to travel to them. Nevertheless, I love L.A. The views are nothing short of breathtaking!
While on my trip, my friend and I were driving around for quite some time until we found an incredible view of the famous Hollywood sign, which you get to see at the beginning of the video.
The Runyon Canyon view from the balcony of our Airbnb property at Hollywood Hills was also amazing, overlooking other very nice houses also on the hill. Wow! Another great thing about our location was that it was very close to Beverly Hills and the nightclubs, which I also attended (including 1OAK and Warwick).
Dinner at the famous and highly-recommended Nobu in Los Angeles was also a great idea and an extremely worthwhile experience!
Another great place I got to see was Muscle Beach Gym, located steps from the sands on Venice Beach Boardwalk. Lots of interesting characters to see here, I can tell you that much (including a Speedo-sporting, horned sorcerer we met that redefined the meaning of weirdo!). The whole area reminded a lot of our own Wynwood in South Florida, but to another level and with A LOT more people!
If I had to pick two favorite places during my stay, I would have to say Hollywood and Santa Monica, a perfect place for sightseeing.
Rodeo Drive was also nice, a bit like our own Miami Design District, but much, much nicer.
The weather in LA is also phenomenal. Even though it was hot, it felt very comfortable even after walking hours and hours under the sun, unlike at the insanely humid inferno of Miami.
While on my West Coast stay, I sported a gold Patek Philippe Nautilus 5980 and my friend Bryan an all-gold Rolex Sky-Dweller.
One thing that I did notice and didn't really expect were that there were a lot less people wearing high end watch brands relative to Miami. Incredibly, I also witnessed a lot less exotic cars than in my hometown. I was really taken back by these observations. Maybe it was just the specific time that I was there or maybe the people on the Hills just don't like to flaunt their wealth as much anymore! Hmm?
So what do you think of the Hollywood lifestyle and Los Angeles in general? Comment below. Also let me know what you think about the places I visited during my trip.
