There is no reason why making an arid enclosure bioactive should be difficult, provided that you recognise the limitations of doing so and then address them appropriately. In this episode of Bioacitve Basics, I discuss how to maintain a bioactive vivarium for reptiles from drier environments, such as leopard geckos and western hognose snakes. The general knack to succeeding is in maintaining a clean up crew substantial enough to keep the vivarium waste-free, and so I talk about the different ways that you can do this, from choosing particular custodians through to little tricks to keeping them alive. Rest assured, where there's a will, there's a way!
