Romania money are called LEU, translated as LION with denomination in BAN (small money), 1 RON = 100 bani.
Since 1867 the money changed many times.
On the obverse side is the coat of arms, minting year and ROMANIA.
On the reverse side is the value, on commemorative coins are traditional elements or important events such as the revolution in 1989 or the 100 years celebration from unification of the territory in 1918 by King Ferdinand and Queen Mary.
National Bank of Romania has one of the most beautiful museum located in old town of Bucharest with history and treasury rooms to be visited fir free but on appointment.

Revalued in 2005 due to hyperinflation and joined the EU in 2007 Romania still uses its national currency and back it up with a large gold reserve.
Banknotes are of plastic polymer, offset ISO intaglio printing, on the obverse side is a national personality and a representative flower while on the reverse side are monuments.
1 - green, politician Nicolae Iorga, milkweed gentian vs Curtea de Argest Cathedral and Wallachia eagle
5 - violet, classical music composer George Enescu, carnation vs Atheneum
10 - pink, painter Nicolae Grigorescu, althaea vs Oltenia house and Rodica painting
20 - NEW, to be introduced in 2020, with the first woman imprinted
50 - yellow, inventor Aurel Vlaicu, edelweiss vs airplane prototype and eagle
100 - blue, comedian writer I.L. Caragiale, sweet violet vs his staue and National Theater building with his hat as a roof recently renovated
200 - brown, poet Lucian Blaga, poppies vs watermill and Hamangia thinker
500 - blue+violet, great poet Mihai Eminescu, tilia vs Iasi University and Tribune magazine
The dimensions of each are in direct relation with the value of respective coin and banknote and it replicates mainly the Euro.
