Short documentary about the Roman conquest of Britain, a gradual process, which started effectively in 43 A.D. under Emperor Claudius, whose general Aulus Plautius served as first governor of Roman Britain. The main leaders of the British resistance were Togodumnus and Caratacus (leaders of the Catuvellauni tribe), Boudica - queen of the Iceni tribe, and Calgacus - the leader of the Caledonian Confederacy.

The last stage of the conquest was between 78 – 84 AD, when General Gnaeus Julius Agricola moved against the Brigantes of northern England, and the Selgovae along the southern coast of Scotland, trying to conquer the Scottish Highlands. Roman occupation was established to a line where was constructed the Hadrian's Wall. The Romans did not succeed in subduing all of Britain. Although most people in southern Britain settled down to Roman order and discipline, the romans had to maintain a significant military presence to control the threat from the unconquered tribes.
