Apparently wisdom does not always come with age.

Two grey-haired Polish men eager to get a free hamburger at a newly opened store in a shopping centre in Lodz on Friday hatched a clever, yet ill-fated, solution.

A massive crowd of locals had gathered on a lower level, all keen to get access to the store, Dziennik Lodzki reports.




Following the cue of some younger and sprightlier teens, the pair discovered they could beat the crowd and reach the store first by going up the down escalator.

But the older gentlemen came awry as they reached the top of the escalator, falling down multiple times as the more patient queuers hooted in delight.

Eventually the pair manage to fall forward enough to land on stable ground, avoiding an embarrassing descent.

Noticing their struggle, the shopping centre management switched off the escalator, but too late for the pair to retain their pride or their grace.
