Firefighters from various surrounding districts joined the fire. Army members are assisting.
The fire broke out at a container terminal called BM Depot in Kadmarsul area of Sitakunda, about 30 km from Chittagong city, on Saturday night.

Firefighters were putting out the blaze at the time of the blast.
Among the dead were five firefighters.
The depot had lots of imported and exported cargo containers. Which also contained chemicals.
The depot is used as a 'transit point' for unloading of exported goods and imported goods before reaching Chittagong port.
Witnesses said tremors were felt at a distance of about five kilometers during the blast. Nearby houses were also damaged.
A local journalist told BBC Bangla that there was a pungent odor in the air. Authorities have advised local people to be careful.
There are 25 units of fire service working to put out the fire.
Meanwhile, the fire service has confirmed that a chemical called 'hydrogen peroxide' has caught fire in the depot.
That chemical has now spread to the surrounding drains. Work is underway to prevent the chemical from spreading further into the surrounding reservoirs and oceans. The drain is blocked with sandbags
