Richard Bowers, a US Army GI stationed in the Far East during 1952, took part in a Tokyo recording session and sang this tune, the title of which translates from Japanese into English as “Forgive Me” or “I’m Sorry.”
After the record became popular in Japan, Columbia Records obtained distribution rights for the US and created a label showing the artist name as “Columbia Tokyo Orch.”
