On March 19, 2024, police in Lacey, WA were called to the Target store about a shoplifting in progress. Officers were standing outside the store when a 19-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man (along with their 9-month-old baby) exited with store with over $400 in unpaid merchandise. Both of them were escorted back into the loss prevention office where they were given an opportunity to have a relative come and pick-up the baby. Both were arrested and transported to the Nisqually Corrections Center. They were charged with misdemeanor shoplifting and their cases are still open. Both suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
