The B-1 Lancer is a variable wing (foldable) strategic bomber and is powered by 4 jet engines. The only military institution in the world that operates this aircraft is the United States Air Force (USAF / United States Air Force), which until now still activates 65 units of B-1B Lancer aircraft.
According to the plan, the US will continue to operate its fleet of B-1 Lancers until at least 2028 or 2030.The development of this bomber aircraft was delayed several times. In 1970, 4 B-1A prototypes were built, but this project was discontinued. Until 10 years later, in the early 1980s the US again needed a bomber with specifications like the B-1 aircraft.
Although it was developed as a nuclear bomb carrier, since the 1990s the B-1B Lancer has also been used to carry conventional bombs. For example in Operation Desert Fox in 1998 which was carried out by the US and NATO.
