Sat down a couple weeks back with Dr. Olya Zahrebelny (pronounced Zara-bell-knee). This was one of my favorite interviews yet - for several reasons - but she offers a very important piece of advice for patients and medical professionals at 3:28.
Dr. Z has practiced in both hospital and private dentistry practice environments for over 39 years. Now retired, she uses the knowledge of dental billing & insurance practices to help other dentists (and their patients) save money, and expand.
As dentists experience one of the highest stress levels (and suicide rates) of any profession today, Dr. Z seems to have a wisdom, and passion for her work, colleagues, and patients that transcends the challenges modern dentists face.
Dr. "Z", as she is fondly called by her patients, has been published in DentalTown, Dentist’s Money Digest, Inclusive Magazine, Dental Economics, and Insurance Solutions.
She's also taught medical billing to dental offices for over 26 years and authored a book called, “Accessing Medical Benefits in the Comprehensive and Surgical Dental Practice” that has been in print for nearly 20 years.
To put it simply, Dr. Z has mastered the business of dentistry.

In this series, we're taking a deeper look at the concept of "poor bedside manner" to better understand what it's like to be a doctor. And WHY they might do and say things a certain way.
Pressure and poor communication can lead to a frustrating relationship with your doctor - the opposite of what you want when you're already in pain. But we're on a mission to bridge this communication gap by diving deep with doctors.
