The single leg stance test is used to evaluate for gluteal tendinopathy and trochanteric pain syndrome. The patient is asked to stand on the ipsilateral leg for 30 seconds. The contralateral leg can be tested. A positive test is a reproduction of the patient's pain and absence of hip drop.
