What a treat we have today! So, I am learning Dr.Dre's mixing techniques and found that he mixes on an SSL console only. Very little outboard gear just a DBX 160 for vocals and a hardware de-esser. I have tested the plugins and found the Waves SSL channels to be the most accurate believe it or not. The compressors on the waves ssl are closest to the actual hardware, and that is an important part of the Dr Dre sound. The EQs are typical to the hardware as well. Also, as a bonus, low CPU. I like the G channel, because it sounds good to me. Even though Dre used an E series console back in the day. I got these tracks from the protools session that is being hosted on remixpacks . club . I don't like to work in protools so I just exported the tracks from protools, and imported them in Studio One where I can work on them the way I like. Hopefully Youtube allows this video. Enjoy!
