The Ratana Sutta or Gem Discourse (KN 1.6, 5.13) is a very well known and frequently recited chant that is included in the collection of Parittas (Protective chants) of Theravāda Buddhism. It is popularly recited to ward off evil spirits and for cleansing spaces with negative energy. Unfortunately, most people don't understand what is being chanted and just regard it as a potent incantation.
In this video, Āyasmā Aggacitta, Āyasmā Ṭhitavijjo and Āyasmā Rāhula recite the sutta in Pāli followed by its English translation verse by verse. This is the first time that the English translation has been made to sync with the Pāli metre.
We hope that this video production will make the chanting of the Ratana Sutta more meaningful to both the chanters and listeners.
