The EastEnders actor shocked viewers when he discovered he was a descendant of King Edward III in a 2016 instalment of genealogy programme Who Do You Think You Are?. Now, Danny has his own history programme where he is learning all about his notable relatives. Tonight’s debut episode saw Danny follow in the footsteps of his ancestors as he fought like his Viking 35-times-great-grandfather Rollo and hunted on horse and foot like William the Conqueror. As viewers watched the iconic personality discover his own history, they were in awe of the BBC show, which will air a second episode next week. Those watching at home took to Twitter in droves to praise the history programme, with some urging the BBC to commission more episodes immediately. “Next time on his blue blooded binge, he loves a ruff. Cannot wait for the next episode the BBC needs to make a full series #dannydyersrightroyalfamily #RightRoyalFamily,” one declared. Another questioned: “This is the first series right? Please tell me this is a gift that will keep giving? #dannydyersrightroyalfamily.” “Dear @BBCOne Please, please, please commission an entire history series presented by Danny Dyer! Yours The British Public #DannyDyersRightRoyalFamily,” a third implored. A fourth exclaimed: “This is the turning point of history telly. Go on Danny! #dannydyersrightroyalfamily.” “This is the best bit of television I’ve ever seen. Just amazing omg. #DannyDyersRightRoyalFamily,” a fifth shared. While a sixth added: “BBC have messed up here. They've put the best TV programme of 2019 on in January. It's all downhill from here #dannydyersrightroyalfamily.” Danny found himself in France at the end of the episode to learn more about another of his ancestors, King Louis IX. But he got more than he bargained for when he found out Louis wasn’t just a king. As well as being a monarch, Louis IX was also made a saint. “To have the blood of a saint in your blood is an extraordinary thing,” an expert told him. Danny was clearly taken aback by the news and looked visibly thrilled with this new piece of information. Fans also loved the revelation and took to social media to comment. “#dannydyersrightroyalfamily was fantastic, his face when he found out he was related to a saint was by far the best part,” one wrote. Another shared: “#DannyDyer is related to a saint as well?
