One of the many disease Orchid growers face is the Orchid Fleck Virus. Not much is known about this ailment, so here are my thought and observations.

There are sources which would call this a microfungus, but to me it has more of the virus traits than a fungus. Visually, this virus creates chlorotic spots on Orchid leaves that never subside. Once a spot is created it will be permanent on the leaf. If the leaf is covered by too many spots it will most likely die off prematurely.
The most affected species I had was the Phalaenopsis orchid, none of my existing Phalaenopsis that got infected escaped and they all showed the chlorosis spots. Here is my first video on the subject [ Ссылка ]
The vector of transmitting is the false spider mite, with which I battled for the past 2 years. For me it has been the only vector, as I sterilize tools after each orchid. Water splashes and orchids touching each other did not transmit the disease itself, but it transmitted the mite which infected healthy orchids.
I do not believe this is a localized disease, it appears to still spread to new growth, under stress conditions or on a weak orchid. There is no cure for viruses, but a string immune system can keep it under control at least. The only way to keep this viruses isolated is to get rid of spider mites completely and sterilize tools between orchids.
