All That Wanting
Golden
Wildest Dreams
Born to a family of artists and musicians, Claire Morales began playing music and making visual art at a young age. By middle school, she was performing her first solo sets at coffee shops, armed only with her father’s 1960s Gibson J-45 and a voice that many well-meaning people throughout her life would deem “more powerful than I thought it would be, looking at you.” All That Wanting is the follow-up to Morales’s debut album, Amaranthine. If Amaranthine was a nostalgic meditation on the departure from childhood, All That Wanting is the delve into the vast freedom, possibility, and existential terror of young adult life. The album is an exploration of desire as a mythic force, capable of compelling one forward or consuming one whole. There is a vast sonic range across All That Wanting—a kind of fearlessness that passes fluidly between moments of intense drama, fuzzy rock, rumbling unease, quiet reflection, and cathartic release. Songs are a mix of personal fact, myth, and mystery—the stories we tell ourselves and others and the stories of what we dream we could be. In a time when it’s easy to feel powerless and inadequate in this world, All That Wanting aims to revitalize the spirit with feminine strength. It is about finding light and meaning in the nebulous and often discouraging landscape of life. Influences include: PJ Harvey, Angel Olsen, Mazzy Star, Iggy Pop, TS Eliot, Albert Camus, Greek myths, and Mad Men.
