STORYLINE:
Serbian police said on Thursday they were searching the home of genocide suspect Ratko Mladic's son in the capital Belgrade.
The police press office said special units were also searching four more locations in the Serbian capital.
No other details were immediately available.
The elite anti-terrorist unit acted on an order from a Belgrade investigative judge and Serbia's war crimes prosecutors, who are trying to track down the former Bosnian Serb army commander, police said.
Dozens of police wearing bulletproof vests and masks and carrying machine guns stood guard in front of Darko Mladic's house in one of Belgrade's elite residential neighbourhoods, while other officers searched inside.
Several young men were escorted out of the house, but no one fitted the description of Mladic or his son.
Government sources told the Associated Press that the search was part of ongoing action to apprehend Mladic.
The former Bosnian Serb army commander is sought by a UN tribunal for war crimes during Bosnia's 1992-95 war.
Serbia must arrest Mladic if it wants to move closer to EU membership.
