In this interview, Erin Popelka of Must Read Fiction speaks with author and TV writer Gina Fattore. Her debut novel is The Spinster Diaries, a story of two spinsters: one a TV writer in 2006 and the other is the 18th century novelist and diarist Frances Burney. We talk about how the book is both an "unromantic comedy" as well as semi-autobiographical, and how comedy and fictionalizing details from her own life played out in the novel.
We also talk about her childhood, how she wanted to grow up to be a spinster, and how writing called to her early on. We close by talking about her work as a writer for television, including what she wishes audiences knew about TV and also some of the details of what it's like behind the curtain.
