This simulation shows the impact of the 125mm APFSDS-T with a Tungsten Alloy penetrator being fired from a Russian T-72B3 tank with a cage armour at a range of 0.8km, targeting the turret side of a US M1A1HA Abrams tank.
In early April Russian engineers took the cope cage to its next level, completely enclosing an entire tank in sheet metal with an electronic warfare device mounted on top to counter drones. While this might look ridiculous, it seems to actually work.
This is an approximation to the Heavy Armor version of M1A1 Abrams tank turret side which has a 1st Generation depleted Uranium armor.
Here we used a Russian T-72B3 tank fitted with 2A46M-5 gun which recently reported destroying a US-made Abrams tank of the Ukrainian army with the first shot in the Avdiivka area.
