Ethiopian Prime Minister Abbiy Ahmed has begun his two day visit to Kenya with visits to Moyale and Lamu.
The pm who arrived earlier today was received at the border town of Moyale by his host President Uhuru Kenyatta. They opened the one stop border post in Moyale town and inaugurated the 500-kilometer Hawassa-Hagere Mariam-Moyale road which is part of the Trans African highway. The two leaders urged traders from both countries to utilise the new infrastructure to boost cross-border trade. The border point is part of the LAPSSET project, and is situated approximately 800 kilometres north of Nairobi, and 780 kilometres south of Addis Ababa. Construction of the facility was completed in 2018, after which the facility has been kitted with appropriate ICT hardware and software to enable it run smoothly as a modern facility.
