STORYLINE:
Party supporters and fans of Pakistani politician and cricketing legend Imran Khan have been bringing flowers to the hospital in Lahore where he's recovering from a fall during an election rally.
Television footage of the fall in Lahore on Tuesday showed Khan standing on what appeared to be a makeshift elevator accompanied by at least three guards or supporters.
As the elevator began to raise him up to the stage, the cricket star and three of the men standing next to him fell back over a railing.
A Pakistani doctor said on Wednesday that Khan is expected to make a full recovery.
Khan fractured three vertebrae and a rib when he fell about six metres (15 feet) off a forklift.
Doctor Faisal Sultan said that Khan will be kept on bed rest in the hospital for at least a few more days so doctors can conduct further examinations.
Sultan refuted earlier reports that Khan also suffered skull fractures.
The injuries will largely knock Khan out of the final campaigning days ahead of May 11 national elections.
Just hours after the fall, Khan spoke to reporters from his hospital bed, visibly shaken and with a cut to his forehead, but still asking people to vote for his party.
Khan has emerged as a wild-card candidate and it's unclear how much his massive personal popularity will translate into votes at the polls.
His Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf however is considered one of the top three parties in the country.
