This video shows how I laid my firebrick with high heat mortar.
First row has a flat chain ( to raised the dome a few inches to help with baking and roasting in the oven ) followed by a soldier row. ( bricks standing up ) then another chain row before the dome begins to curve inward.
Refractory Mortar - also know as high heat mortar.
Firebrick - "medium duty firebrick" can withstand temps of over 2000+ degrees.
The brick absorbs the heat and radiates it back into the oven dome.
The tools I built to use for the dome building is called the "Indispensable tool" or "Trammel"
They are very easy to construct , and are an amazing help.
