By the 1860s in the British (and Empire) army, marksmanship was considered more important than rapidity of fire. Nevertheless, in a desperate situation one might need to fire as rapidly as possible. This short video demonstrates how the combination of Hythe drill and the British .55 'Pritchett' cartridge in the Pattern 1853 Enfield quite easily allows three (hastily) aimed rounds a minute.
