Fort Knox safes utilizes the Sargent & Greenleaf Titan pivotbolt electronic lock on its newest safes and vault doors. These electronic locks have the ability to change the combination to a 6 digit code of your preference. Below is a bulleted list of the simple steps:
- punch 2 2 * on key pad
- dial existing 6 digit code; if it is brand new from the factory, the existing code is 1 2 3 4 5 6 #
- electronic lock will beep 5 times
- now dial a 6 digit code of your preference; this can be any combination of any 6 numerical digits
- electronic lock will beep 3 times
- confirm your new 6 digit code by dialing it again on the key pad
- electronic lock will beep 3 times
- you have successfully changed your combination
Tips and Tricks:
- change the combination while your safe door is open. This will allow you to still get into your safe in case you misdial the combination.
- write your new preferred combination down on paper. This way, when you are changing the combination, you are reading off the numbers as you enter them into the keypad
- If you are interrupted while changing the combination, the lock will reset itself to the previous combination on the lock.
- If you punch in the wrong combination 3 times, the lock will lock itself for 15 minutes. You will have to wait the full 15 minutes before you can enter another code.
- This is the sequence specifically for the Sargent & Greenleaf Titan Pivotbolt electronic lock
