Today we take a look at how World War 2 not only changed how Halloween would be celebrated in the United States going forward but also how celebrating Halloween the "old way" would've landed you in big trouble back then. 1942-1945 were scary times with rationing of sugar amongst a ton of other items. However sugar being an important ingredient in candy meant Halloween was going to be different during the war years, and even after, as late as 1947. Trick or treating historically back in World War 2 was basically called sabotage but that wasn't the only "normal" activity seen as sabotage..
